More Laundry savings secrets :)

I recently bought Organic Eco Wool Dryer Balls – 6 Pack – 100% Handmade, Fair Trade, Organic, No Lint – Premium Quality from amazon.  I LOVE them, they are little wooly balls and the help to fluff up your laundry and cut your drying time.

Remember, I dry my Jeans and Towels outside when I can, to almost dry, then I throw them in the dryer, these balls help to make them fluffy and dry a little quicker.

On regular clothes I think I save about 25% on time, with all the laundry that goes on here that adds up!  If I do good clothes I will rip a dryer sheet in half to help with static cling saves money here also.

Also if you wear something for half day, and you didn’t get it dirty or sweaty, either just hang back up in closet or if you MUST wash, then use the spin and rinse cycle.  The less you wash your clothes the longer they last, saving money on clothes, and water and electric bills.

The biggest saver of all, now that it is summer, let the SUN dry your clothes!

This learning curve is REdiCuLus….for a freaking stove

the top has four burners, 2 with 1 circle, 1 with 3 circles and 1 with 4 circles, you have to make sure your pot or pan completely covers a circle.

And you also have to turn the knob to the correct amount of circles and then the heat setting…I feel like I need to go to back to home ec!  Which I barely passed because either the teacher felt bad for me, or she didn’t want to have to deal with me again…either way I passed.

some pans conduct heat better then others, I found this out while making pancakes, one pan almost burned them super quick, while the other cooked them fine.

The stove is a little more complicated then the stove so far, everything cooked in there has actually been done per the instructions…no more having to cook longer or burnt food….yet

Oh…COME ON!!!

so we got the notice that our electric would be out and we couldn’t park on the street.

So my Fiat E is in the garage, my son parked in my husbands spot and I parked the Bug I haven’t turned in yet next to it.

Hubby parked on the street because he would be gone by the time they started to work on the street.

So my son goes to leave but comes back in because an Truck is blocking his car in the drive (we have an electric box thingy by our driveway) so he takes my Bug.  I told him that is fine I will just drive my Fiat.  But when I go to leave, the electricity is still off and I CAN’T get my Electric Garage Door Open to drive my electric car!!!!

Come on already, and to add insult to injury the electric was supposed to be off from 8 to 3pm, it didn’t come back on it 8PM.

Easy and Quick way to reduce your electric and gas usage

Right now it is getting cold at night and early am, and still warming up pretty good in the middle of the day.

When I get up my house is between 66 & 68 degrees, we don’t turn the heater on because I know it is going to be 80 – 90 by midday. If I am cold I put on sweats or a sweater, by doing this, the house stays cooler longer and I don’t have to turn the a/c on at all, or if it gets real hot I might only have to use it for a hour or so.

If I were to heat up my house in the am I would have to turn the a/c sooner and longer in the pm.

Simple & Quick way to use less Gas and Electric if you are in the right temperature zone.

Also if you can run your dishwasher at night, I will load it during the day as I cook and then before I go to bed at night I turn it on when electricity tends to be less per KhW. Then in the am I unload and start over again.

Electric Co suck!

Electricity prices are a ripoff!!!! But whatcha gonna do about it!!!

When we moved into our new house, we realized the back wall was mostly glass, and got the lovely sun, and the two rooms with high ceilings living room and bedroom, got HOT HOT HOT!!!

#1 thing to do is get new windows and doors, seriously, it reduced the heat coming in a huge amount, and a couple of side benefits, NOISE, it reduced it so we hardly hear that annoying dog bark anymore 🙂 and most importantly, while reducing our electric bill during the summer we could also use it as a write off on our taxes. Right now this deduction is still in place so get it done!

#2 While the redone windows helped to keep the house cooler, the sun still shines like a mofo in the am and still heats up the house somewhat, soooo, we got that Patio Cover I have been wanting. Woo Hoo, it helps to keep the sun out of the rooms in the AM when we are trying to sleep, keeps the house even cooler in the summer, keeps the stupid catepillar poop (yea catepillars poop, who knew!!) off my patio and patio furniture and guess what, you can also write it off on your taxes cause it helps to keep your house cool. Booyah!

#3 Always see if you can get your items on their money, meaning, on both #1 & #2 we did a same a cash deal thru both companies, now this is very important, make sure you PAY it OFF with in the time frame or the interest rate will kick your ass! I always immediately set up an autopay to pay it off in time. So I didn’t pay any interested on these items, and I didn’t add to my credit card debit.

More ways to beat the Utility Guy

I know this sounds trite but “TURN OFF THOSE LIGHTS”, seriously folks, turn them off.

Replace your old bulbs with the new longer lasting ones.

Get solar lights for outdoors.

Unplug all those gadgets in your bathroom and kitchen.

If it has a light to tell you it is off, really do you need that? It is using electricity to tell you that. If you unplug it you know it is off!

I unplug by electric toothbrush and the razor in the bathroom after they have been charged. I can tell when I need to replug it in.

I unplug the toaster, the can opener, the tea kettle, and the food saver, I plug them in when I need them, not that big of deal.

I am sure you can find things around your house to do the same. I unplug the ones that are super easy to replug in and don’t get tons of use. Of course nothing in my kitchen gets much use…but that is because my kitchen hates me and the feeling is mutual.
